With the new packaging line 1, up to overall 80 million blisters a year can now be manufactured in a three shift system.

Part of the CP200 concept is a very compact balcony construction with minimal required space. Output amounts to 250 blisters a minute and a cartoner rate of up to 160 folding boxes per minute. With a rapid format manipulating time, the CP200 has been developed specifically for efficient packaging. All tools are quickly changed over due to the rapid tension locks.

<img src="http://www.temmler.eu/wps/tp_pics/intranet/pics_61/w/5/CP-200-10x15.gif?bnr=1642" alt="Mediseal CP200">

A dehumidification of the dosing volume is carried out on both machines using conditioned processed air of <20% RF.

It should be emphasised that our employees have over 5 years’ worth of experience in blisters and carton components using a digital two-colour printer from the company CSAT. The printing device can print all current cover films format synchronously.

<img src="http://www.temmler.eu/wps/tp_pics/intranet/pics_61/e/k/CP-200-_2_10x15.gif?bnr=1643" alt="Mediseal CP200">

Along with the standard foil program (aluminium and synthetic aluminium blisters), line 1 was upgraded to include a further feature. PP (polypropylene) foils will also be processed in the future.

Due to the ever-increasing customer demands, Line 1 was additionally equipped with a colour camera system for the filler tests, film rupture tests of bottom aluminium films, as well as a clip fastener test and a testing belt weigher. Furthermore, all cameras used for reading the Pharma code, which are one and two dimensional bar codes, were upgraded to 2D Matrix Code.

The new Line 1 and the highly qualified packaging team are therefore contributing a considerable increase in capacity and competitive ability in Marburg.

[Temmler Group - Pharmaceutical Contract Manufacturing]

Well-thought-out, consistently planned and completely installed and qualified within a record time of just 3.5 days - this is the new line 3 in Bruckmühl.

The blister line Noack N 921 with Promatic cartoner PC 4200 was supplied by Romanco group. All machine components are optimally harmonized. Depending on the format, the new blister line is able to produce between 200 and 400 blister packs per minute. The cartoner ejects up to 200 folded boxes per minute.
<br /><img src="http://www.temmler.eu/wps/tp_pics/intranet/pics_61/b/4/090320_Romaco-Linie_3_I2.jpg?bnr=1616" alt="" /><br />
And, by the way, line 3 is identical to line 5, which was already installed in June 2007 at C.P.M in Bruckmühl, providing essential advantages during operation. If two powerful machines constructed in the same way are operated next to each other, tools can be easily exchanged between both lines in order to reduce capacity bottlenecks in no time at all and to respond to customer requests in a more flexible way. This will also improve the future potentiality to deliver just in time. And it significantly abbreviates training-in of new staff members, because comprehensive experience is already available for C.P.M. with this type of blister line. Furthermore, all technical optimizations of line 5 have already been considered for the new line 3.
<br /><img src="http://www.temmler.eu/wps/tp_pics/intranet/pics_61/e/l/090320_Romaco-Linie_3_I1a.jpg?bnr=1617" alt="" /><br /><br type="_moz" />
Both lines are equipped with state-of-the-art control and eject function (e.g. advanced colour camera system for the control of the content to be filled, control belt scales for weight control etc.) and due to the up-to-date balcony construction meet the requirements to a GMP-based design. They are clearly arranged and therefore easy to clean. Format change can largely be accomplished without any tools. The cartoner is adjusted with the support of servo motors. Basic settings saved for many formats can be automatically selected with the machine control. This provides for considerable reduction of non-productive changeover and cleaning times.

Except for PP, both lines can process all established plastic films (e.g. PVC, PVDC, COC, Arclar, Triplex etc.) and also manufacture aluminium-aluminium blisters. Processing of PP foil can be retrofitted on both lines, if required, with reasonable effort.

Under the current operating conditions, the new line 3 can produce up to 30 million blister packs per year in three-shift operation. The overall blistering capacity for C.P.M. ContactPharma was increased by the installation of the new blister line to a total of 80 million blister packs per year in three-shift operation.

KG founds the Junior Research Prize of the German Society for Muscular Diseases e.V. (DGM)

The Junior Research Prize has been awarded to Gabriela-Elena Oprea from the Institute for Human Genetics in Cologne, in line with the 19th Congress of the Scientific Advisory Council of the German Society for Muscular Diseases. Dr. Oprea received this award for her innovative discovery of a protective gene in spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). The €2,500 prize, which has already been awarded for six years, is funded by Temmler Pharma for the research of rare neuromuscular diseases.

Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is one of the most frequently occurring recessive, genetic diseases in human beings; characterized by the degeneration of the motor neurons in the spinal cord. This causes a symmetrical weakening of the muscles and atrophy of the leg, arm and eventually the entire torso musculature. This genetic disease has lead to early childhood death in many cases. Dr. Oprea’s extraordinary research has made it possible to identify a fully protective modified gene for an inherited disease for the first time. In addition, a significant contribution has been made to better understanding spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).

The discovery of a protective gene gives scientists and patients across the world hope that therapeutic treatments for this often deadly disease will soon be discovered.

In the central nervous system sector, supplements for rare neurological diseases, such as Huntington’s disease and Myasthenia gravis, are sold alongside generics. By awarding the Junior Research Prize, Temmler Pharma is making a significant contribution to researching these and other diseases, which are often neglected due to the small number of patients affected by them.

In 2010, scientists will also be able to apply for the prize. As well as this, external nominations are also possible. The assessment of the applications will be conducted by the board of the DGM. Please send applications to:

With its customer orientated presence the Temmler group was able to inform comprehensively about its range of services. The balance sheet for the exhibition was remarkably positive.
<br /><img src="http://www.temmler.eu/wps/tp_pics/intranet/pics_61/j/2/IMG_0071.JPG?bnr=1404" alt="" /><br />
Although this year the market position of the Temmler Group improved once again, due to the acquisition of the SwissCo Group, which also lead to an expansion of the service portfolio, the successful concept of a dynamic appearance at the exhibition, introduced last year, was maintained and expanded. “The Temmler stall is always buzzing” was the unanimous opinion of visitors, which numbers in comparison to the previous year nearly doubled. The Temmler staff was well prepared for the numerous discussions with customers, which focused on top service, certainly contributed to the excellent result of the exhibition.

The Temmler group, with its parent company, Temmler Werke Holding GmbH, continues on its expansion course. With the acquisition of the SwissCo Group, retrospective to the 1st of January 2008, a further step was taken to establish Temmler as one of the leading contract manufacturers and service providers in the European pharmaceutical field. The contracts were signed today.
<br /><img border="0" src="http://www.temmler.eu/wps/tp_pics/intranet/pics_61/2/a/Vertragsunterzeichnung_I.jpg?bnr=1363" alt="" /><br />
With this acquisition, the Temmler Group expects a combined turnover of €190M. It will have 900 employees engaged in a broad diversified range of operations, in pharmaceutical production, services, and logistics.

Temmler's range of production capabilities is now technologically expanded by a further specialized production facility, Production at Dryroom Conditions. The additional capacities and technical possibilities, reinforce and enhance the important position of the Temmler Group, in the market of pharmaceutical contract manufacturing.

Last year Temmler trebled its production capacity of solid dosage forms like capsules, tablets, and coated tablets, as well as controlled release formulations, by the acquisition of the plants in Munich (Germany) and Killorglin (Ireland). With the acquisition of the plant in Carugate (Italy), and both production plants of C.P.M. ContractPharma in Feldkirchen and Bruckmühl, Temmler expanded its business in liquid and semi-solid forms.

In addition to contract manufacturing and development services, Temmler Group offers its customers in Germany, and Ireland, a comprehensive logistics service, ranging from storage to distribution direct to retail pharmacies. In addition, Temmler Werke Munich offers, as a specialized service, the production and worldwide distribution of clinical trial materials. This service can be also offered for Biotech products.
<br /><img border="0" src="http://www.temmler.eu/wps/tp_pics/intranet/pics_61/c/4/SwissCo_Geb_I.jpg?bnr=1365" alt="" /><br />
The SwissCo Group is a Swiss company, with its headquarters in Sisseln, near Basel. With about 141 employees, SwissCo reached a sales revenue of about 36 million Swiss francs.

The company is a specialized contract manufacturer in the production and development of highly innovative pharmaceutical products, as well as food supplements. SwissCo has concentrated in particular, on the handling of moisture-sensitive active substances, and the production of effervescent tablets. SwissCo’s particular competency isthat it can regulate and control its complete production area, to a maximum humidity of only 15 percent. Besides effervescent tablets, SwissCo Group manufactures other dosage forms such as, tablets, film tablets, coated tablets, controlled release tablets, granules, hard gelatine capsules, powders and compacted powders.

With head protection, special clothing and overshoes they were channelled through a special door, thus overcoming the first hurdle to entering production.

State-of-the-art production facilities and the highest quality standards characterise the production at Temmler Pharma where we live up to our company motto "Your Product's Best Friend" by providing almost all kinds of dosage forms. This was clearly expressed on the round tour through our production and packaging units.

Temmler Pharma clearly communicated what kind of commercial knowledge the company requires from its industrial business management assistants. Continuously increasing customer requirements necessitate constant investment in order to increase the capacities of a modern three-shift operation.

The recently commissioned Bohle Film Coater (BFC) for the film-coating of tablets demonstrated convincingly Temmler Pharma's capacity to handle large customer orders and to press, coat and package millions of tablets.

After gaining an insight into production and enriched with new impressions and information, the "new" business management assistants were sent on their way back into 'everyday life' with best wishes for their final examination in June.

Over a period of 3 days, some 60 exhibitors presented interesting innovations from the medical and medical technology fields. Temmler Pharma was also exhibiting again this year and attracted a great deal of attention with its research prize and symposium on the issue "Rare neurological disorders".

Researchers from all over the world are trying to determine the cause of myasthenia to assist them with developing a treatment aimed at reversing the causal factor in the disease. Temmler Pharma supports these research activities by awarding a junior research prize once a year. Together with the German Society on Muscle Disorders (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Muskelerkrankungen -DGM) upcoming researchers are awarded for their work in the area of rare muscle disorders, in particular myasthenia gravis. This year the award ceremony took place in Marburg during the Annual Meeting of the German Society for Clinical Neurology and Neurophysiology. The 2008 prize donated by Temmler and valued at € 2,500 was awarded to Dr. Rudolf Kley from the University Clinic Bochum.

A powerful green laser beam connected Temmler Pharma with the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Tower for a period of six hours. The light show was made possible by Temmler Pharma allowing the club "Die Macher e.V." the use of the roof of their new laboratory building.

<br><br /><img border="0" src="http://www.temmler.eu/wps/tp_pics/intranet/pics_61/a/h/AktLaser3.jpg?bnr=1208" alt="Laser vom Turm" /><br>

The laser beam which thrilled art enthusiasts for the first time in 1977 on the occasion of the Documenta 6 in Kassel and which could be seen thereafter in many German cities, is a type of laser art. The club's intention behind this light show was to link cities, and thus people.

Information can be accessed directly. A point of contact is provided at all times and answers to any questions the visitor might have are accessed via only a few clicks. Not an entirely new concept, since efforts have always been focused on the customer, and particularly on doctors, pharmacists and the end consumer. Nevertheless, the site has changed insofar as the Temmler Group, an internationally active contract manufacturer, is now looking at extending its services to a much larger target group with high service and quality requirements. Therefore we are working full speed at translating our website into English.

Apart from the Temmler Group's focus as service provider in the pharmaceutical industry, Temmler Pharma has modified the layout of its health information pages to show a more modern and user-friendly design. The pages have been streamlined and are more informative due to the fact that topics are only introduced briefly. More detailed information is available via the respective link or by downloading a PDF file.
